ESL Pronunciation/Listening/Speaking
Five samples of final pronunciation exams are given, representing grades A, B, C, D and F.
The speaking segment of the final exam consisted of twenty (20) sentences made in accordance with pictures that students looked at while responding to the examiner's questions and prompts on audiotape. Elicited were14 responses to the examiner's questions, 3 questions about a picture and 3 responses to the respective student-generated questions.
Students were given 2 points for a response that was appropriate, a complete sentence, minimally grammatically correct (especially Subject + verb), and basically phonologically intelligible, for a maximum of 40 points. All material had been studied and practiced in class, on audiotape and videotape. All pictures came from the books used in the course.
