Advanced Angel Quizzes

You’ve created quizzes in Angel. You’ve administered to your students quizzes with multiple choice, multiple select, true-or-false, fill-in-the-blank, matching, ordering, short answer, and essay items. You’ve developed traditional paper-based quizzes and/or have access to publishers’ quizzes in PDFs, DOCs, or digital databases. You have access to quiz-ready images and/or sound files, or you know how to create these objects yourself. Your skills include navigating in Angel; entering, editing, copying, pasting, enumerating text; browsing for and attaching objects. In this session, after viewing examples of a variety of quizzes, you’ll learn how to:

• Develop your quiz items in a text editor (tagging them appropriately as multiple choice, multiple select, true-or-false, fill-in-the-blank, short answer, or essay; assigning points; providing answers and feedback) and import hundreds of items into one quiz.
• Use headings to separate a quiz into sections by item type or theme.
• Display a unique quiz for each student by randomly drawing a specified number of similar items from each section of your quiz, thereby reducing the chances of cheating.
• Use a quiz with a pool of items for unlimited attempts, thereby encouraging repeated practice, as well as a one-time assessment.
• Create an item with a link to a web page.
• Create an item based on a picture.
• Create an item in which pictures are choices.
• Create an item linked to a sound file stimulus.

Bring on paper, a flash drive, or a publisher’s exam CD (or be able to download from your Angel Personal Learning Object Repository) samples of quizzes and/or quiz items for one of the classes that you teach.
