Before this midterm oral test, the students needed to

learn the English words for common clothing
learn to express reasons for returning clothing to the store
memorize the dialog pattern

During the test, the teacher gave each student an item of clothing and a role. The students needed to use the clothing in the role play. They needed to give a reason for returning the clothing.

A: I'm going out now.
B: Where are you going? A: I'm going to [store name]. I need to return this [clothing item 1].
B: How come?
A: [reason]
B: Um, could you do me a favor?
A: What is it?
B: Could you return a [clothing item 2] for me?
A: Sure. What's wrong with it?
B: [reason]
A: Okay. No problem. Give me the receipt.
B: Here it is. Thanks.
A: You're welcome.
