Write a paragraph of 150-175 words using different action verbs in the past time frame. Refer to Applied English Grammar (Byrd and Benson) Chapter 2.
Compose a paragraph of 150-175 words using different
action verbs in the past time frame. Type the title in the Subject Line of your
message; capitalize the content words (N, V, Adj, Adv). Type the paragraph in
the message body.
Possible topics: Describe what someone did (you or
somebody else) in order to get a job, what someone did on a business trip or
vacation, what happened in a recent job- or school-related activity (event,
incident, task), what someone did in order to get onešs driver's license, what
someonešs son (wife, boyfriend, uncle, grandmother) did on a special occasion.
Specify the person.
Language elements:
Refer to the different verb forms in Chapter 2 and words from the Academic Word List. Use at least one of each
sentence type, in any order: simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex.
Pay attention to verb tenses and verb forms suitable for the past time frame.
Use at least three of these verb forms: simple past, past perfect, past
progressive, past perfect progressive, present perfect. Edit your paragraph for
topic, length, time frame, vocabulary, verb forms, sentence structure,
unity, and coherence.
